Procedures

Fiscal ordinance is only available in spanish or catalan.

AREA card application
Persons having the right to park in the green zones at the preferred rate can apply for the card at the virtual office of the City Council of Barcelona.

Duplicate AREA  resident card application (duplicate of one you already have)
All residents may request duplicates of their card. This request is subject to a charge under the regulations of Fiscal Ordinance 3.12, the price is € 5/card. If you wish to request a duplicate, click here. If the card does not work correctly, bring it to the AREA Customer Service Office and we will check it for you.

AREA resident card cancellation request

If you are resident and have a valid AREA card and you wish to cancel it on a permanent basis for whatever reason, you can request cancellation online at the Barcelona City Council virtual office. This is all you need to do. We will take care of the rest.

Request for change of residential zone within AREA

If you are resident with AREA card and you change your address within AREA, you must inform us of such so that we can change the details of your card, you can do this at the Barcelona City Council virtual office, you do not need to attend the AREA Customer Service Office in person. We will change your details on the computer and send a notification to your new address within 48 hours, you can then park your vehicles in the new zone.

Request for a new vehicle to be registered on AREA resident card

If you are resident with valid AREA resident card and wish to register a new vehicle on the card, you can apply online at the Barcelona City Council virtual office, you do not need to attend the AREA Customer Service Office in person. We will change your details on the computer and send a notification to your address within 48 hours, you can then park your new vehicle in the resident’s zone. If we need additional documentation for any reason, we will get in touch with you.

Request for a vehicle to be removed from the AREA resident card

If you are resident and have a valid AREA card and you wish to remove a vehicle from the card, you can request this online at the Barcelona City Council virtual office. This is all you need to do. We will process the request and notify you of the change once completed.

To check AREA resident rate

In order to view resident’s tariffs for year 2018, you must enter the code of your AREA resident card and the license number of your vehicle.

Advance payment of AREA resident rate

Residents who park, within their area of residence, either in Exclusive residents Green Area or Non-Exclusive Green Area, may opt for the payment in advance of this rate for one day or several days, and at most, up to the last working day of the year.

To be able to access to the advance payment, you have two options:

     2.  By parking meter:

If you are user of parking meter, may opt for the payment in advance of this rate from next January 1, 2018 and for a máximum of twenty working days.

Cancellation of a penalty

In order to cancel a penalty, you will need to obtain a special ticket from the parking meter. The charge for the special ticket is 7 Euros for all vehicles.

Non-resident drivers who have parked their vehicle in a regulated zone and who have received a penalty charge notice for exceeding the maximum time allowed can cancel the penalty as long as the excess time is not longer than half of the amount of time paid for.

Resident drivers who have parked their vehicle in a Exclusive for residents zone or another space within their residential zone and who have received a penalty charge notice for failing to display the time ticket can cancel the penalty within one day from the time payment should have been made.

Users of ONaparcar residents app who have parked their vehicle in a Exclusive for residents zone or another space within their residential zone and who have received a penalty charge notice for absense of digital time ticket can cancel the penalti, from same app, within one day from the time payment should have been made.

Paying a penalty

You can resolve all penalty charge notices sent to your home at the Barcelona City Council virtual office.

Processing an appeal

You can contest or appeal parking fines imposed by the Barcelona City Council at the City Council’s Virtual Office or by contacting any Citizen Help and Information Offices (OAC).
